Welcome to our indigo workshop with resist-dyeing! In this workshop, we will be exploring the ancient art of indigo dyeing.
The indigo workshop with resist-dyeing is a hands-on experience where participants learn how to use the resist technique to create beautiful patterns and designs on fabric using indigo dye. In this workshop, participants will learn the basics of dyeing, and different types of resist techniques. They will also learn how to create their own resist designs using rubber bands and strings.
Participants will have the opportunity to dye their fabric to achieve different shades of blue. At the end of the workshop, each participant will have a unique and personalized piece of indigo-dyed fabric to take home.
**So that we have enough dye for everyone, please bring one or two medium sized items to dye, like a shirt or scarf. Indigo works best on natural fibers. Note that if you dye a garment that is made of natural fibers but is stitched with polyester thread, the fabric will dye but the thread will stay more or less white. If your fabric is a synthetic blend, it will result in a paler shade of blue.
*This is a gathering of Ruby members and member-invited guests.
