AUTHORS OF COLOR BOOK CLUB: Bury What We Cannot Take by Kirstin Chen

Jean Rhys said that "reading makes immigrants of us all," that "it takes us away from home, but more important, it finds homes for us everywhere." Now more than ever, it's vital—and heartening—to read, and read widely. We'll read thrilling, mind-blowing, intriguing, heartbreaking, comic, strange, and/or provocative books by women of color—and, each month, we'll gather to talk about what we've read! When possible, we'll also have the writer join us.

March's book is BURY WHAT WE CANNOT TAKE by local author Kirstin Chen.

From the publisher:

Kirstin Chen is the author of the novels Bury What We Cannot Take, forthcoming from Little A in 2018, and Soy Sauce for Beginners, a Kindle First selection, an O, The Oprah Magazine “book to pick up now,” and a Glamour book club pick. She has received awards from the Steinbeck Fellows Program, Sewanee, Hedgebrook, and the Napa Valley Writers’ Conference. She was the fall 2017 NTU-NAC National Writer in Residence in Singapore and currently resides in San Francisco. Visit her at kirstinchen.com

Books will be ready for pick up at The Ruby by March 1 (subsidized at $12). We’ll provide drinks and snacks.
